Ridin' High: Nelson Hits for Cycle Thursday, June 11th , 2026 Most fans have never seen a player hit for the cycle, and most players have never done it -- but it happened today at Fighting Irish Ballpark. Mat Nelson of the South Bend Fighting Irish accomplished the feat against Modesto Miracle. Nelson went 4-for-5 with 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run in the 12-3 South Bend victory. "That was one for the grandkids, am I right?" Nelson said after the game. Nelson also scored 2 runs and had 6 runs batted in in a day to remember for both Nelson and the crowd at Fighting Irish Ballpark. Mat Nelson hit an RBI triple in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Mason Erla in the 8th. For the season, Nelson has hit .326 with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs. He has played in 12 games and scored 10 times. View Boxscore |
