Augusta Halts Willits's Hitting Steak
Sunday, July 27th , 2025
Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 20-game hitting streak, Columbus first baseman Bryce Willits went hitless in 2 at-bats at Augusta Grounds.
The sudden hitting drought came as the River Rats snagged the 5-1 win over the Augusta Greenjackets.
"Nope, it's not magic," Willits said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody jinxed me. Streaks don't last forever. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits."
In his 2025 season totals, Willits has 11 home runs, .376 BA, .462 OBP, 61 RBIs and 49 runs scored.
