Cortes on Fire: Burns Annapolis with 3 HR Friday, April 24th , 2026 Lexington left fielder Carlos Cortes blasted three homers at Bluegrass Stadium in the 10-9 Bluegrass victory over the Annapolis Argonauts. For the game, Carlos Cortes scored 3 times and knocked in 6 runs. When he hit his last home run, his teammates, hearing the crack of the bat, leaped off the bench and rushed on the field to greet the jubilant Cortes when he reached home plate. "It was just one game, but it sure was a lot of fun -- 3-for-6, three roundtrippers and a win," a gleeful Cortes told BNN reporters in a postgame interview. "What a day." Carlos Cortes walked in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Johnny Ray in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Steven Wilson in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Teddy Sharkey in the 9th, grounded out in the 10th and flied out in the 13th. For the season, Cortes has produced 10 hits in 28 at-bats for a .357 average with 3 home runs and gotten on base at a .471 clip. |
