Perlaza Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
Yonathan Perlaza put on a hitting clinic as the Newport News Destroyers dumped the Lynchburg Scouts, 19-1, at Yellowjackets Ballpark.

The Newport News left fielder made Lynchburg defenders earn their pay, lashing Lynchburg pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."

"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Perlaza said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."

Yonathan Perlaza walked in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off JD McReynolds in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Andrew Dalquist in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

For the year, Perlaza is batting .359 with 16 home runs.
