Pilots Win, 7-0, as Bennett Mystifies Winston-Salem
The Winston-Salem Smokers were almost helpless in their 7-0 loss to the Brunswick Pilots and hurler Jake Bennett. Bennett kept the Smokers confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Bennett," Winston-Salem manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 24-year-old left-hander had 2 walks and 9 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Bennett said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

This season, Bennett has worked 77.1 innings with 67 strikeouts en route to a 7-5 record and a 3.61 ERA.
