Walla Walla Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game
Pioneer League fans were certainly not disappointed with this Pioneer League Round 1.

The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Walla Walla Wolfpack prevailing over the Banff Summits to advance to the Round 2.

Walla Walla won the final game by a score of 8-7 at Walla Walla Grounds and that sealed the series 3-2.

"Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said third baseman Freudis Nova, who earned MVP honors.

For the series, Nova hit .522 with a .560 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.

The Walla Walla Wolfpack will play against the Great Falls Gunslingers in the next round. Great Falls won their series against the Medicine Hat Homers 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
