Monday, April 20th , 2026
The Columbia Colonels may have proven to be mere mortals as they lost, 7-5, to the Lakewood Legends, but John Spikerman continued to hit like a god.

The center fielder collected 1 hit in 5 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 25 games.

"Spikerman is playing great and is on fire right now," Colonels manager said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins."

Spikerman was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss."
John Spikerman flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jacob Bresnahan in the 5th, walked in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.

For the year, Spikerman is batting .321 with 9 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 8 times and driven in 3.
